Scotland’s Chief Scientist for Health, Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, supports our efforts to empower all Scots to help shape health research. Using volunteer data, researchers have developed a test to help identify the risk of type 2 diabetes. Similar approaches could be taken for other common health conditions – generating broad health predictors from a single blood or saliva sample. We need more participants, especially from under-represented groups, to help prevent and treat diseases as we age. Generation Scotland, the largest family health study in Scotland, is now able to compensate volunteers aged 12-18 for their time taken to join the study. Help us spread the word!
