Young People Can Lead the Way to Scotland’s Future Health

Scotland’s Chief Scientist for Health, Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak, supports our efforts to empower all Scots to help shape health research.

Using volunteer data, researchers have developed a test to help identify the risk of type 2 diabetes. Similar approaches could be taken for other common health conditions – generating broad health predictors from a single blood or saliva sample. We need more participants, especially from under-represented groups, to help prevent and treat diseases as we age.

Generation Scotland, the largest family health study in Scotland, is now able to compensate volunteers aged 12-18 for their time taken to join the study. Help us spread the word!
